Around the house they all scurry

Trying to clean the home

And since they are all in a hurry

No one will just roam.

They will clean all the dishes

They will mop all the floors

And as the people make their wishes

They will sadly get more chores.

They’ll clean every window

They’ll dust all dark spots

And as far as things go

They clean all which rots.

Even though they want to stop

They have to get things done

Even though they want to drop

They can make the cleaning seem fun.

This month of April hasn’t been too busy for me, but I’ve enjoyed it, anyways. The event I remember most from April is from my Easter conference. It started on a Friday night and ended on a Sunday evening. On Friday, we had a prayer meeting at night, on Saturday, we had a huge meeting with some meals, and afterwards we had Young People’s meeting. On Sunday, we had a meeting, and left. It was great to see all the people come over to Chesapeake that I haven’t in a while, especially all the young people. Hopefully I'll be able to go to one of the other conferences in the summer.

On My Way

The best part of my spring break was driving down with my brother to Carrboro, North Carolina to see one of his favorite bands. The band we went down to see was called Tinariwen. The drive was four hours, but I slept for one, which was great. When we got there, we got some food, than met up with a friend of ours. She took us to the Duke University Campus and we walked around there. We saw this church that that was immensely large. It looked medieval. When we were driving back to the hotel we were staying at we listened to the band that was coming before Tinariwen, and they were called The Melodic. The first song we listened to was called On My Way, and it was really good, so it got us more excited for the concert. When we arrived to the concert, we were the first ones, but were accompanied by other folks right away. We went in at around seven, and came out at eleven. The best part of all, though, was getting to help both of the bands load up their gear and talk to them personally. Since that happened, Tinariwen and The Melodic are both one of my favorite bands now.

Move Your Feet and Feel United

The highlight of the month of February for me was being on a film set with a friend of mine named Drew. He is one of my brother’s best friends. Drew is a student in Regent University studying Cinematography. He really enjoys films in general, watching them and making them. He is very talented when it comes to making films, so it’s really exiting to have the chance to work with him.
My job in helping in the making of his film was 2nd AD (Second Assistant Director). That means I have to slate the scenes that we are shooting. I write down the name of the scene, and the take, which is which is the number of times we shot the scene. Whenever we are not shooting a scene, we are setting up for one. There is a lot of food on the set to eat, so you don’t get hungry.

We have finished filming all the shots for the film, and Drew will be editing it for a while with some help from my brother and some other people. It was a great experience to help make a film, and if you get a chance to work on a film set, you should try it out.

Well, on the night of Tuesday, it had started to snow. It had got me very excited! I had not seen snow in a year, so a couple hours in the snow fall, I decided to go outside and enjoy it. My brother eventually came outside with me, and we walked around the neighborhood. Well, sort of. The snow had started to fall down as if all the little ice crystals were trying to hit us, trying to freeze us alive. As if we’ve ever done anything to the snow in the past! So, after a few minutes of our faces being frozen and overall being really uncomfortable, we went back home where it was warm, comfortable, and you could actually feel your skin.

When I had got comfortable, I had decided to do some more homework because I enjoy getting it done early. It takes a load off. So I did my math and science, which wasn’t too difficult, and then just played guitar and looked out the window until I had gone to sleep.

The next day, I woke up to my brother asking me if I wanted to go sledding. I of course said yes, and I got up immediately. I dressed up and an hour later, we had set off. We had picked up everyone who was going and then we arrived at the sledding sight. And the police were there, too. I guess that they didn’t want anyone getting hurt on a hill the smaller than a boulder. I’m kidding, of course, but still, it was impossible for anyone to get hurt. So we went back to one of our friend’s house, and went sledding at the park at their house, which had no one in sight. We drifted in the parking lot with a friend’s truck, my hands froze off because I didn’t have or own gloves, and we would sled down a hill with no police car in our way.

As I was going to sleep that night, one of my teachers emailed me and all the others students in her class that there was not going to be any school the next day. This was exciting, but it was also disappointing to hear. It gave me more time to finish all my homework, but I was going to perform that night at the sampler which was cancelled. But, overall exciting. Well, thanks snow! It was great having you around! See you… Well, probably in the next year or two.
